Hey, new guy here.

As I wait for my S.E.X. kit I am already planning some small mods.  I am curious to know what the value is for the stock attenuator, 100K, or 50K?  I am concidering replacing the stock attenuator with a Goldpoint stepped attenuator.  Has any one installed one in their S.E.X.?  Thoughts and opinions would be appreciated.

Hi John,

The stock pot is 100K.  Where in Alaska do you live?  I live in Homer.

Cordially,

I have a Goldpoint with Vishays. The Goldpoint will fit, but not without a fight. You have to increase the hole size for the potentiometer so you can mount the Goldpoint further away from the edge of the chassis, or I suppose you could trim the wood frame on the inside a bit. I sanded down the small extrusion on the goldpoint and installed a thick washer for spacing and a locking washer, then installed it on the chassis with another washer and nut on the top. The shaft will also have to be trimmed appropriately depending on the knob you use.

Thanks for the info!  I ordered the Mini-V standard.  I will report back with pics after the install.
