Hi all tube loversI have used my paramount for a certain period of time. Right at the begining, I configured it as DC coupled 2A3. For those who have used it for both 300B configuration and 2A3 configuration, which sound you like better. After using it as 2A3 for sometime, I am tempted to configure it as 300B.

Please share your experience.

Thanks

Hey Andy,
I had my Paramounts configured as 2A3's quite awhile back. Was trying to drive some 88db speakers which although wasn't bad just ran short on loudness. Since then I've converted to 300B and also to 97 db speakers. I've been tempted to try the 2A3's again. You should just try the conversion and see how you like it, it's fairly simple to do. Doubt it takes more than an hour for both channels and then you'll be able to decide for yourself.

When I first constructed my Paramounts I configured them with 300B and changed tubes to a couple of different brands, don't get me wrong everything sounded great.  Then one day I was bored so I reconfigured to 2A3's, I had the tubes and did it.  I won't go back to 300B's, I have since upgraded tubes from EH to JJ 2A3-40.  I can't really explain but it sounds better, more detailed for lack of better word.  It's easy to do, try it.

Make sure you have two extra HLMP 6000 led's

2A3 for me for sure, not very good with all the audiofile jargon so my description is lacking.............. all I can say is the 2a3 has some kinda magic to it, open, detailed, much better extension from top to bottom, keeps my foot tapping for hours and hours!!!
