Tips for a really glossy finish for the top plate?

Once I get finished with Christmas shopping I will be ordering my Seduction. I am going to use a deep cherry finish on the wood base and want a really deep, glossy black shine for the top metal plate. So before I start I wondered what those of you who have achieved a really smooth, shiny finish used for paint and what your prep was? Thanks in advance.

I found a plating shop that will do black chrome plating. I asked for a "show coat" which you can also get in straight chrome. Another alternative is to find an automotive painting shop that will do enamel and then bake it. This provides a nice finish as well

Couple layers of black paint. Sand with 320 grade paper. Layer of high gloss enamel. Sand with 320 paper. Repeat or add final layer of gloss.

All high-gloss black enamel like Valspar? Or for the final coats do you mean a clear coat?
Thanks!

I used a flat black and high-gloss clear coat. But did multiple layers of each with sanding in between until it was just right.

I forget, but nothing fancy. I doubt it makes much of a difference.
