I purchased a S.E.X. amp some time ago, but haven't gotten around to putting it together yet. I have miss placed some of the screws in the kit, and would like to know the length and diameter of the 4 screws that hold the power transformer cover on. Can anyone help?
Thanking you in advance.

Bernie.

Bernie,

Assuming this is the 2.0 version, the bolts are 8-32 x 1-1/4"

Not sure if they're different for the new version of the kit as I haven't even opened that box yet.

Thanks Jim. I'm sure it's version 2 as I have had it for about 4 years.

The manual has a typo, it's actually 1-3/4" long. Typo is in the parts list where it says 1-1/4", the correct size is in the text of the manual.

THe core of the power transformer is itself 1-1/4" thick. Then make allowance for the bell end cover, shoulder washers, lockwashers, chassis plate, and nuts - 1-1/2" is just not quite enough. Unfortunately 1-3/4" is quite a bit harder to find than 1-1/2" or 2".

Thanks guys. I will try and pick up the 1.75 inch bolts today. I have dropped off the chassis plate and trans cover to the plating company to have them copper plated. I like to use allen screws for the trans. cover, and they will have to be buffed as they are made of stainless steel.

Hey Bernie,

Caswell Plating makes a stainless steel blackening solution and gel that's simple to use.  Just thinking black would look better against copper.
