Put my order in for a Seduction and the C4S upgrade.

I have been so impressed by going back to vinyl; I can't wait to hear how much better my collection will sound with the tube preamp!

Great going -- and I still think that when you get this system all together and broken-in you will not believehow good it sounds, especially relative to what you'd get at a store for the same money -- that will really be a wake-up call :-).

Let us know how things progress.

Congrats, it's a great phono stage and a fun build.

One word of warning though, you may want to start saving your pennies for a new cartridge. I had always thought mine was good enough when it was going through the phono stage on my receiver. My Seduction sounded so great right off the bat that I quickly figured out where my system was falling short. FWIW, at the time I was using a Pro-Ject tt with a Sumiko Oyster cart.

I ordered one the day they came out.  It was the first Bottlehead phono stage and I had heard a Beta kit.  It is amazing for the cost.  It replaced an ARC Preamp with a phono stage, I needed a Foreplay to completely replace it, of course.

Full, how'd you like the Pro-Ject with Sumiko oyster. I'm going to eventually use that but I also bought an M97ex in case I don't like the oyster. Thanks for listening.

Hey Rich,
The Oyster is a decent cart — it's not very refined or very detailed, but it's pretty musical for the price. I replaced it with an Audio Technica 440MLa, which definitely kicked up the detail by a lot. The 440 has a bit of a hum, which is apparently endemic to that cart. In my system I really only heard it on headphones. I ended up switching back to the Oyster for a time after I switched turntables and found it was a better match for the Thorens tonearm I had at the time than the 440.

As for which of your carts you will like more, I do not know. Your tonearm will have a lot to do with it as well everything else in your system. I don't have a lot of experience with the Shure line. Just looking at stats though, it does have a more refined stylus shape and size, so I would guess it will have better detail.

All standard disclaimers apply, IMHO, YMWV, etc.
