Hi All,

Thought I would ask the experts... I just completed my S.E.X. Amp on Saturday...Works like a charm, took my time and fired it up, and sweet music came out of my headphones. This is my first build.

My question(s) are as follows, on page 36 of the instructions, the directions indicate that if I am using the amp as a headphone amp, I need to attach a 10 ohm wirewound resistor across the binding posts. I picked up a pair last night at the local Radio Shack. The only ones they carried are a pair of 10-ohm Wirewound Resistors 10 watt 10% tolerance (part 271-0132). Before installing I thought it best to ask...

1. Is that the correct resistor to use for my purpose?
2. I assume that you solder the resistor to the regular speaker binding posts, is this correct? (I know dumb question)
3. Will this prevent me from attaching speakers to the amp then, I at some time will be attaching speakers down the road, but it will be primarily used as a headphone amp?
4. If the amp is left as is (without installing this resistor), I am assuming that I am not realizing the full potential of the SEX amp, correct?

Thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated!

Best,

Pat

Not sure the reason it is still in the manual, but you do not need the resistor for headphone or speaker use.

This was the initial thought, as the headphones present a pretty light load at the outputs, although it appears to make very little to no noticeable/measurable difference in the SEX amp.

Normal installation of these resistors was to use the speaker binding posts to secure them, but I wouldn't even bother using them.
