I want to start playing around with low cost parafeed designs (cheap iron, and CCSs instead of chokes).  I plan to compare using my SEX amp as reference, and use the 6dn7 tube since I already have a few.  I ordered the Edcor GXSE10-8-5K to include a series feed in my tests.  Now, can I wire this transformer up as an autoformer to run it in parafeed as well, or will the gap defeat this application?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

It will work fine in parafeed, but you will lose the advantage of high inductance (reduces tube distortion at low frequencies) so the comparison with parafeed will be flawed.
