I have a friend with a pair of Straight 8's that I might talk her out of, but will 3.6w do the trick? Couldn't find any specs on the speaker.
TIA

When I started on the old site the Straight 8s were available the standard amplifier was a Paramour.  There were probably other previous 300B amps but the 3.5 WPC of a 2A3 was fine.

Todd,

If I'm remembering correctly, the S-8s were something like 98 dB sensitive which should really rock with the 2a3 Stereomour, no problem.  45s will also go quite a long way too, and depending on room size, musical tastes, etc., should also be fine.  Of course I have no idea what the impedance and phase curves look like, but we'll assume it is a SET-friendly design considering where it comes from.

HTH,

My recollection is that the 3.5W original Paramour was adequate for the Straight-8s but an 8-watt 300B amp (Parabee at that time) was an improvement in larger rooms. The original Paramour did not have a 16-ohm output tap, so it was used with an 8 ohm tap; I would guess around 2.5 watts output. The Stereomour has a 16 ohm tap and can make a full 3.5 watts into 16 ohms. The various stock Paramours (I and II) had some power limitations below about 80Hz, and the Stereomour does much better in that respect. So the combination should be audibly better than an older Paramour.
