Anyone out there know how much the S.E.X. amp typically consumes under normal operation driving speakers?

Mine draws 52.8 watts (440mA RMS times 120 volts).

Thanks Paul. Just starting to think about energy consciousness sometimes and knowing that my dynaco mark iii's can act as little space heaters (and thus larger energy users), this little S.E.X. amp I have does pretty well in comparison driving my Klipsch Fortes. Certainly not going to get ride of these monos I bought, but may use them less for daily music listening...keeping them on deck when I want to rattle the windows.
BTW....what's the easiest way to get one of those shorting headphone jacks?

Paully has a PS Audio P500. It reads out the watts it is delivering. His FP, Paramounts and Eros use 185-187W. That isn't much. I don't think any of the Bottlehead equipment could be called wasteful.

Hey there Grainger...long time no talk. A while back now I was talking to you about the virtues of Obligatto coupling caps and motor run caps for power supplies, etc.
Just thinking every now and again about how to lighten the footprint a little as I walk through life....how a number of small things like this end up adding up when i think about how often I'm not doing any concerted listening but simply enjoying music in the background while cooking dinner, feeding our little one, etc., etc.,etc.

It is just that I am surprised at the misinformation out there. There are suggestions to unplug "unused telephone chargers" and the like when not in use. I don't leave them plugged in after using one but the power used is minuscule (called core loss and copper loss). Turning off a light for a couple of minutes saves 10 times the energy as unplugging a charger for a day.
I also don't leave tubed equipment on after using it. Nut that is because I don't want to waste tube life. It isn't a green thing, I've used up my share already.
Enjoy the music, that is worth the energy, lowers the blood pressure and brings pleasure. That isn't a waste.
