8/03/04 At this time the Bottlehead Straight 8 speaker kit has been retired and the Straight 8 design is being updated for use as a pro sound monitor. Watch for it's return as the new Camellia Audio Design Group P8 and for development of the new Bottlehead Climax speaker kit for a great match to Bottlehead electronic kits in the next few months. Thanks to those who have built the Straight 8s over the years. Consider yourself a lucky member of the exclusive fraternity who own them! Paul Joppa has designed a refined crossover for the Straight 8 kit. We had initially planned to offer this in kit form, but we now offer it to the community of Straight 8 owner/builders as a thank you for your support Bottlehead Straight 8 Crossover version 3.0

Things to come - Here is an updated version of the Straight 8 with a slot loaded compression tweeter, designated in this guise as the P8, performing with the fabulous Jacqui Naylor at the Upstage Bistro in Port Townsend, WA. Note the couple sitting beside the arrays. They sat there comfortably through two sets and yet the entire two story venue was filled with an even sound from the slightly splayed monitor placement. Try putting a PA horn close to the audience like that - you'll drive 'em to the back of the house! Development is underway on an active version of this new P8 monitor.
